It’s the combined philanthropic support from our community of alumni that fuels Northeastern and allows for even greater opportunities for today’s students. Your gift, combined with those from tens of thousands of others, makes an important difference in the daily life of Northeastern University students and the entire campus community. Gifts from undergraduate alumni have also helped to fuel Northeastern’s upward trajectory in the U.S. News and World Report ranking as a top 50 university for the past three years.

The bottom line

Northeastern is funded by three major sources: tuition, endowment, and alumni giving. These three sources work together to ensure academic excellence at the main campus in Boston, the five graduate campuses in the U.S. and Canada, and at the many co-op sites across the globe. Tuition covers a portion – but not all – of the cost of educating an individual student; the endowment represents both an important funding source and long-term financial stability; and annual gifts from alumni, parents and friends provide critical current-use support for academic funds, student clubs and organizations, financial aid, athletics, and countless other areas across the university.
