In the decade Peter Roby has served as Northeastern’s athletic director, I’ve come to know him well. I deeply admire his dedication to creating an outstanding sports and recreation program that also emphasizes students’ academic, social, and community success.
Peter personifies integrity and has instilled his core values in our student-athletes and coaches while also fostering performance that has led to achievement at the highest levels. It is telling that Peter has said, “It has been a joy to see our student-athletes hoist championship trophies, be recognized for extraordinary academic feats, and establish themselves as leaders in our community.” His goal has always been to create an environment that encourages student-athletes to succeed in all spheres.
As you know, Peter will retire from Northeastern after more than 15 years of service, including a decade as the athletics director. To create a permanent tribute to his leadership, the university is establishing the Peter and Sandra Roby Student Athlete Success Fund. This fund will ensure Peter’s values are honored in perpetuity by enhancing Northeastern’s ability to attract and retain extraordinary student-athletes, coaches, and staff.
I hope you will join my wife, Sue, and I, and contribute to this fund to help sustain Peter’s legacy. We will match all gifts up to $250,000. Together, we can double the impact and the power that the Peter and Sandra Roby Student Athlete Success Fund will have on the Northeastern community.
Sincerely,
Michael J. Zamkow, DMSB ’79
