Nathan W. Riser Memorial Fund

Nathan “Doc” Riser was named the founding Director in 1967 of what was then the Marine Science Institute (MSI), a position he held until his retirement in 1985.  Over the years, he influenced many undergraduate and graduate students who went on to professional careers in medicine and marine biology.  

This fund honors his tremendous legacy as a teacher and mentor by providing one or more fellowships for post-doctorate researchers studying at Northeastern’s Marine Science Center.
