11/10/17 - BOSTON, MA. - Northeastern University on Friday Nov. 10, 2016 held its annual Veterans Day ceremony to honor past and present members of the university community who have served their country. Remarks were given by: Paul Scherlek, President, Northeastern Student Veterans Organization, Major Joseph Luchetta, NUROTC Professor of Military Science, Francisco Urena, Secretary of the Massachusetts Department of Veterans' Services, Lieutenant General L. Scott Rice, Director, U.S. Air National Guard, and Northeastern University President Joseph Aoun.

The Dolce Center for the Advancement of Veterans and Service members (CAVS) supports veterans and current service members who are enrolled in courses at Northeastern in Boston or at a regional campus. Initiatives and areas of support include organizing and hosting events to inform eligible students about the programming offered at CAVS; organizing and hosting networking events for CAVS members and veterans who are already in the workforce; assisting CAVS members with travel and other expenses related to their job search; hiring part-time tutors to assist CA VS members in topics such as math, writing, and the sciences; providing scholarships for veterans and service members who may not qualify for the Yellow Ribbon Program; and hiring staff to liaise between employer partners who are interested in hiring veterans and the CAVS participants.
