Proteus Fund

Founded by explorer and conservationist Fabien Cousteau, Proteus Ocean Group focuses on solving some of the most challenging problems facing the world’s oceans, ranging from conservation of coral reefs to the application of cutting-edge technology that enables people to literally live underwater for extended periods. As the lead academic institutional partner, Northeastern University faculty and students work as lead scientists with the Proteus team to conduct underwater experiments at sites around the world.

The Proteus Fund supports collaborative work between Northeastern University faculty and students and Proteus Ocean Group, ranging from hydroacoustics of coral reefs, to “blue carbon” in coastal ecosystems, to understanding what ocean conditions create “hope spots”, all while sharing the adventure of ocean exploration with the world.
