Sorority - Sigma Gamma Rho

Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Incorporated was founded on November 12, 1922 on the campus of Butler University in Indianapolis, Indiana. Founded at the height of Ku Klux Klan reign – a time when Indiana was known as “Klandiana” – the Sorority’s founders withstood countless tests of fortitude to develop a foundation for the organization we know today, and become the only Sorority in the Divine 9 to be founded on the campus of a predominately white institution. Sigma was founded on the principles of Sisterhood, Scholarship and Service. We are driven by the idea that “Greater Service” results in “Greater Progress”. The undergraduate chapter makes “Greater Service, Greater Progress” a reality in the City of Boston through the implementation of our Sorority Programs, and through Community Service Initiatives created by chapter members.
